About Us

Despite the name, this isn't about how well you draw, this is about how much care you put into your characters.

A good character is one that can stand on it's own two feet without needing to lean on a canon character as a 'crutch'. Orikeros (keroro gunsou fan made characters) designed just to revolve around or only exist to be paired with a canon character are not welcome here.

This is about doing your best to show your character is independent and well-thought out. You don't need a canon to do that!

Quality Orikero is about making your original character entertaining, wanting your audience to genuinely crave to know more about him or her, and make your character believable within the Keroro Gunso universe.

Please feel free to request membership if you're absolutely positive you meet the requirements. NO canon x oc, NO unofficial canon relatives/siblings/children.

There’s only one question you need to fill out when clicking the “Join our Group” button, and that is What do you plan to achieve by joining Quality Orikero? When asking to join a staff member will consider the answer and look through your gallery before deciding if you should be accepted.

Keroro Gunsou Mary-Sue ExamplesYou'll notice that I am completely ignoring looks at this time. There are some few things about the Keronian's looks that can be Sue-type traits, but that doesn't matter quite as much as the profile content at this given time. (Yes there are such things as "recolors" and other things that don't make sense, but I will get into those some other time!)

I am also ignoring canonXoc relationships at this time.

Orikero Creation Guide: LooksKeronians do come in many varieties.  They can be just about any color you can imagine and can wear all kinds of accessories or clothes if you really want them too.
Naming can be tricky or not depending on what you want to do.  The preferred names are usually three syllables long.  (Keroro, Tamama, Kururu, Giroro, Dororo and so on.)  However, it is okay to stray from this.
On the subject of naming, it's probably best to avoid re-using a canon's name but there is nothing wrong with using a name that is already taken by another orikero.  Why?  How many aliens do you thinkOrikero Creation Guide: Looks by ~CriticTsubebe

Character Creation Assistance"I want to create a character, but where do I begin?"
First of all, there are a lot of terms you must familiarize yourself with. This will help you to fit in among the fanfiction community.
Orikero: The term used to identify a Keronian character. It is a combination of the term OC and the species Keronian.
OC: Short for "original character"
Cannon: A character that is already in existence among the original series from which your fanfiction is based.
Cannon Rape: Violating a cannon or using it without the permission of it's creator in a way that would clearly be unacceptable.
Mary-Sue: Female character who is perfect in every way, has either done nothing or done too much to get where they are today, and is loved or adored by all or the majority of other characters.
Gary-Stu: Male character who is perfect in every way, has either done nothing or done too much to get where they are today, and is loved or adored by all or the majority of other characters.

Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu Character CheckDisclaimer:
As much as these Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu tests are going around DA, they are not usually supported by this group. In posting this, we are not telling you to build your character around it. We are also not requiring you to take it. It is simply here to supply those who have requested it be.
Once you've created your character and wish to see whether or not it's a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu, copy and paste this list to a word processor so you will be able to fill it out. Remember, it is perfectly normal for a character to contain several qualities within the list. However, having too many at once is simply going too far!

Hi everyone.

I'd like to put down a new rule in regards to bases;

please, please, please do not submit base-used art here, even if you are the creator of the base! Some of you have characters with spotless written profiles, but the fact the art is a base does not fit what this group is about-- we're trying to encourage effort, and using a base, no matter how pretty it might be, isn't giving your full effort. I know you could argue you put effort into putting decorations and detail onto the bases, but seeing submissions where multiple orikero are all in the same pose just looks very lazy, and we all know you are capable of so much more!

Don't be ashamed of yourself, and please do start submitting work you make that hasn't used a base! We love seeing submissions where you made it all by yourself

that's what we feel 'quality' is, when you give it your 100%! We're trying to encourage you all to work hard and find motivation so you can make art and characters you can look back at and feel proud of. Understand? There are many other groups out there that accept base-made art, but this isn't what this group is for, this is for you to show us your hard work, what you're capable of, and help and watch you grow!
